Common questions
The things contractors ask first. If yours is not here, call and ask.
Do you come to us, or do we bring the material to you?
We come to you. We bring the scales to your premises, weigh the material in front of your team and settle against the actual weight, so nobody has to load a van and drive to a yard. Where it suits better, we can also weigh at an arranged collection point near you.
How do you pay for the material?
By instant bank transfer, before we leave site. We do not deal in cash, so every payment is traceable and lands alongside your Waste Transfer Note as part of the paperwork trail.
Are you a licensed waste carrier?
Yes. Precious Metal Recyclers Ltd holds Environment Agency registrations CBDU648675 and WEX483682. Both are checkable on the public register, and we would encourage you to check them for any carrier before handing over material.
What paperwork do we get?
A Waste Transfer Note for every collection, plus material traceability, collection records and recycling documentation. Recycling certification is issued where applicable, and we can provide a monthly statement showing volumes and value across all of your sites.
What happens to the cable after collection?
We granulate it in-house, which separates the conductor from the insulation so the copper and aluminium are actually recovered rather than the yield being estimated. It is a 100% recycling solution for cable, with none of it going to landfill.
Do you only take cable?
Cable is the priority and we are always looking for more, including household cable. We also buy copper, brass, lead, aluminium and stainless steel, plus electric motors and compressors. If you are already segregating cable, the other metals coming off the same jobs rarely need a second supplier.
We generate material across several sites. Does that work?
Yes, and it is one of the arrangements we are set up for. We can supply a Dolav or skip to each depot, workshop or project, collect them when they are ready, and consolidate the volumes and value onto one monthly statement.
What areas do you cover?
We operate across a 50-mile radius of Bolton, covering the whole of Greater Manchester and extending into Lancashire, Merseyside, Yorkshire and Cheshire. With multiple depots and live project sites routinely operating across the region, we are well positioned to provide flexible, responsive collection and recycling services wherever they are needed.
Do you collect outside that area?
Yes. For larger volumes of scrap non-ferrous metals we can arrange collections nationally, providing businesses across the UK with a reliable, efficient solution for maximising the value of their redundant materials. If you are outside the 50-mile radius, it is worth a call to talk through the volume.
Still got a question?
We bring the scales to you, weigh it in front of your team and pay by instant bank transfer before we leave.
